So the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.
Jonah 2:10
Jonah disobeyed God’s instructions and went in another direction.
Jonah 1:17 says, ‘The Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.’
Imagine being in the belly of a fish. Darkness, no fresh air to breathe, stomach acids and gases, being swayed about in water all around, seaweed wrapped around your head, no chance to just sit or sleep.
Do you feel like you are in a situation like Jonah? Caged in, fear all around , turmoil, no way of escape?
God promises His presence and protection in Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV).
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
In the belly of the fish, Jonah cried out to the Lord who heard him and caused the fish to spew him out on dry ground.
God hears your cry in your situation. Maybe it’s hard to even find a resting place to call unto your Saviour, but beloved, God does not forget you nor His assignment for you. His plans for you are always good. He has called you, chosen you. You are His masterpiece created for good works in these end time days.
Like Jonah, Jesus was in the grave, but He rose again victorious (Matthew 12:30). This must give you hope. Do you feel you are in a grave situation? Be encouraged today, you will come out, you will rise again.
When Jonah came out of the fish’s belly, he went about on his assignment, preaching repentance to the people of Nineveh. When you come out of your situation, don’t forget what you are called to do.
Go in the authority and power of the Lord Jesus Christ, the One who commissions and empowers you.
